1. Chrome Takes Forever To Download Windows 10

Hey guys, I upgraded from Windows 7 about a week ago and the process took roughly 5 hours. I have about 250gb of stuff on my PC and the first 1/3 of the upgrade is what took the bulk of the time to transfer all the files. Either way, I thought 5 hours was quite a long time considering I have a i7-4770k and an SSD.Tonight, I decided to do a clean install of Windows 10 because I've had some nagging registry issues (and frankly performance issues) that I could never find a solution for and couldn't upgrade to the newest nvidia drivers (which has been a problem for a couple of months) so that triggered me to finally do a clean install. It has currently been 8 hours of 'resetting this PC' and its only at 77%. This can't be normal right? From what I've read it generally just takes an hour or two to do clean installs, and the same can be said for upgrading. How long has it taken others to do these upgrades and/or clean installs? If mine is so slow, what could the problem be?

You probably are installing all the updates that came out between the time you laptop was built and now. That can take quite a while - maybe a couple of hours. Did you get ANY messages giving a percent of updates?

As reported all over the net. The worse part, if you decide to upgrade using the 'Windows Update' link rather than the 'Notification' icon that appears on your taskbar, you'll 'block' any other Windows 7 updates from also installing while Windows 7 works on downloading Windows 10, which is taking forever. That's the usual procedure. Powering off during this process is very dangerous because it can sometimes cause your computer to become unusable, depending on what was being updated at the time.`When you power your laptop back up, run Windows Update and see what updates have been installed and what is remaining. That should give you an estimate of how much has been done and how much remains.`When you've gotten your system back like you want it, I urge you to get yourself an external hard drive and a good 3rd party backup program. You can set it up to do everything automagically at the time and frequency of your choice. 1 TB external hard drives are about $60 these days and a really good FREE backup program is the Easeus Todo Backup Free. That can save you a lot of time and frustration the next time something like this happens.
