Sunn Concert Bass With Distortion

While searching for schematics for my Sunn Concert Bass Amp, I found this forum. Very cool and so I just joined. I do have a question on my Concert Bass amp. I believe I purchased the amp and a 215B bottom in '75. One of the things not installed on this particular head was the 1/4' footswitch plug. They have it masked off with a plastic plug.

For sale is an old Sunn amp head from the 1970's. Cosmetically the amp is in good condition but there are a few paint marks on the top. The amp operates beautifully and sounds great with either guitar or bass. In order to get the distortion to operate properly without the original foot switch you have to dummy plug the foot switch input on the back of the amp. Great amp!If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask!Thank You.Product Specs Condition: Brand Model Categories Made In United States.

  • Early version of the Sunn Concert Bass. Seems like these earlier ones with the silver panel were 1972-74 and the red knobs started appearing in 1975. This amp is actually very similar to the red knob version in the preamp and output section but the power supply is totally different. Red knob version has a single secondary winding meaning there.

Vex, the sludgy tones of Sunn’s iconic solid-state bass head is now available in pedal form with the new Super Duper Concert Bass Mod.With the new pedal, Z. Vex looked to capture the essence of the original solid-state amplifier. Company founder Zachary Vex calls the legendary amp “ a solid state monster with distinct distortion and low end popular with enthusiasts of downtuned, primal, and punishing guitarists and bassists.”It has been voiced so input and output capacitors retain low-end, giving instruments “ sharp teeth,” while still maintaining an organic sound. It’s suitable for both bass and guitar alike.“ This is an interesting, aggressive, solid-state tone,” Vex says. Check out the new Super Duper Concert Bass Mod in action below.
