It really comes down to a synch issue and if you are not in the same room or same city then its just going to randomly desynch all the time. Maybe, one day, when fiber optic spans everywhere THEN we will have the clean data paths needed for such sloppy coding. Can't they poach from blizzard or hell even Find some old westwood employees to come in and show them how to keep a game in synch? Hell Ironclad is kinda dissolving.
I have honestly just given up on multiplayer in these games as it is just painful for anything other than set battles. In set battles on person ALWAYS makes a square and sits to let you attack them, how fun is that. Just gonna adopt my spartan technique and make a semicircle on the border and tell em COME AND GET ME. In the past it was typically buggy to keep a campaign game fully playable (that is, be able to sub for ai in battles all the time instead of glitch out part way through the campaign). I was variably able to get between turns 4 to 30 before corrupt save files kept crashing our game.A workaround though.Empire, and most TW titles for that matter overwrite save files often so it would be wise for the host to save any multiplayer game's file in a seperate folder before starting thier turn. You might want to do this every turn when playing an empire multi campaign game because of the frequent desyncs.
